Make a Delicious Banana Bread
Bananas, like fine wine, evolve with time. As they ripen and develop brown spots, they become a key ingredient in making delicious banana bread.
These brown-speckled bananas are perfect because their natural sugars intensify, creating a sweeter, richer flavor. This transformation turns a simple banana bread recipe into a culinary delight.
Using ripe bananas in your banana bread ensures a moist, tender texture and enhances the overall taste. So, the next time you see those bananas turning brown on your counter, don't throw them away.
Embrace their transformation and bake a loaf of banana bread that will fill your home with an irresistible aroma and delight everyone's taste buds. This key ingredient makes all the difference, turning an ordinary recipe into a family favorite.

Prepare the batter
Bake
MAKES : 1 loaf
SERVING: 8 to 10 servings
PREPARATON TIME: 10 min
BAKING TIME : 50-55 min
TOTAL TIME: 1 h
Ingredients
4 very ripe bananas
75g (1/3 cup) butter, melted
1/2 tsp baking soda (not baking powder)
100 - 150g (3/4 cup) sugar (1/2 cup if you would like it less sweet; 1 cup if more sweet)
1 large egg, beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
200g (1 1/2 cups) all-purpose / plain flour
Method
Preheat and Prep:
Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C (160°C Fan) / 4 gas mark) and greasing or line with baking paper a 9x5-inch (23x13 cm) loaf pan. A well-prepped pan ensures easy release and a beautifully shaped loaf.
Banana Bliss:
In a mixing bowl, mash 3 overripe bananas with a fork until they reach a smooth consistency. The more ripe the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your bread will be.
Mix in the wet ingredients:
Incorporate the melted butter into the mashed bananas, followed by the granulated sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Blend until all the ingredients are well combined.
The Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking soda. Gradually add the dry ingredients to your banana mixture, stirring just until they're incorporated. Be gentle and don't overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine. Fold in chopped almonds, flaky almonds, chopped nuts or chocolate chips (optional). These additions add delightful texture and flavor.
Prepare for Baking:
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly. Halve the remaining banana lengthwise and press into the top of the batter. Sprinkle the top with flaked almonds or chopped nuts (optional) and 1 teaspoon of brown sugar.
Baking:
Bake for 50-55 minutes, until golden brown, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached. As it bakes, your kitchen will be filled with the heavenly scent of caramelized banana goodness.
Cool and Delight:
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Once fully cooled, slice your Banana Bread into generous portions and savor the tender, moist, and flavorful goodness.
Enjoy!
